Kaizen Race 2026: continuous improvement
starts from everyday work

On September 1, Duplomatic hosted a Kaizen Event, bringing together operations and quality managers for a day dedicated to continuous improvement (Kaizen 改善), practical training (Dojo 道場), shopfloor experience (Gembutsu 現物) and the sharing of experiences (Yokoten 横展開).

The Kick-Off combined classroom sessions with practical activities on the shop floor. Participants worked on the principles of 5S — Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain — and explored how workplace organisation can contribute to improve not only product quality, but also people’s motivation and well-being.

A key part of the programme was the Gemba experience: going to the actual place where work happens, observing processes directly and discussing opportunities for improvement together, the method of 5S was used to introduce improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity and more effective daily operations, under the guidance of the operational excellence team, which include Italian and Japanese experts.

One step further is the activation of the Kaizen Race initiative, establishing the internal competition on the most effective improvements developed by the teams located in each plant.

Throughout 2026 each plant is publishing Kaizen Improvement Card into a common database, sharing ideas, best practices, improvements and insights. Projects are evaluated according four criteria: awareness and insight, ingenuity and improvement, effort, and cost saving.

Rather than focusing only on major projects, the initiative encourages teams to look closely at everyday work: identifying waste, simplifying activities, improving safety and quality, and turning practical ideas into shared standards involving everybody, everywhere, everyday.
