WE DO IT LIKE THIS. Here's how we test our products and valves

The R&D Laboratory of Duplomatic MS is responsible for verifying the prototypes of valves designed by the design and engineering team. Each test has its own characteristics, and the tests are generally discussed both before and during their execution. At the end, a report is drawn up, on which we always consult with the designers to verify that we have identified the key aspects and useful data to progress in the design or to validate and pass it into production.

We work closely with Duplomatic designers, who are also located close to our offices.

To fully test a valve, it is necessary to first understand it, and for this reason, when a new project arrives, we identify its characteristics and, accordingly, what it should do once in use. It is therefore necessary to understand its unique features, as well as its potential use.

Generally, in the tests, we focus on the aspect that makes the valve different from the previous ones, and above all, we always try to push it to the extreme. Our goal is to think and imagine how the customer will use that product in the field, to go beyond and try to subject it to stresses higher than those endured in actual use.

In the testing phase, in addition to specific tests for each product, there are standard procedures at Duplomatic MS to evaluate the worst conditions both from an internal pressure and flow perspective, as well as the most challenging external environmental conditions.

More recently, we have introduced vibration tests on valves, which has allowed us to qualify valves with respect to universally recognized industrial standards, for example, in the automotive field, opening up new markets and new developments.

Finally, we also carry out checks on smart products, equipped with IO-Link electronics: we check their operation, especially in relation to the hydraulic part, having already passed the electronic function tests.

Most of the research is carried out at the headquarters in Parabiago (MI), but there is also a testing laboratory in the Hydraulic Systems Business Unit in Padua, and in Lainate (MI) we carry out testing on manifolds and systems.

Therefore, the task of the R&D laboratory is to act as a link between design and production, as we need to clarify any doubts during assembly and installation. Production benefits from our experience gained during the prototype phase and needs the advice we have learned during testing.

We share this experience, sometimes even with guided procedures, with assemblers to improve production times and effectiveness.
